Feinstein's/54 Below, April 2016

The sexually intimidating (or just very tall?) duo of Hannah Kloepfer and Tessa Hope Slovis are back after a sold out show at the Duplex, hit performances in Feinstein’s/54 Below’s inaugural Concert Lab, a few unceremonious breakups, and a lot of bad Coffee Meets Bagel dates.

In this highly theatrical, heart-on-its-sleeve cabaret, Hannah and Tessa dive back into the contemporary dating world, determined to maintain their self-respect and sex-positive attitudes (and even more determined to find new Netflix passwords). Featuring Golden Age Broadway tunes updated for 2016 and powerhouse arrangements of songs by talented women, including Patti Smith, Lauren Pritchard, Jeanine Tesori, the Dixie Chicks, and more!

you can't kiss a movie

Metropolitan room, june 2016

An innovative reimagining of film techniques for live performance, You Can't Kiss a Movie features performer Shelley Farmer, whose passionate (obsessive?) love of French movies from the 1960s New Wave is the seed for an original story about an ill-fated love affair, told through the songs and dialogue of those movies. With a spirit of youthful immediacy inspired by the films themselves, this bilingual cabaret playfully tweaks the films' themes and gender roles while continuing their investigation into the costs and virtues of emotional engagement in art and life. You Can't Kiss a Movie is an exuberant, affecting show for both film buffs and newcomers.
